Our session title: “Profitability of Dual VET – From Training to Value Creation”
In line with the overarching theme of Africa Skills Week 2026 – “Skills for Resilient and Competitive African Industries: From Training to Value Creation” we will tackle a question that matters deeply to policymakers, TVET institutions, and businesses alike: How can dual VET generate genuine added value and profitability for companies, while ensuring high-quality training and benefits for learners and society?
Drawing on our extensive experience from West Africa, we’ll show that private sector engagement is not a “one-size-fits-all” approach, but requires a systemic, context-sensitive process.
Our work on cost-benefit analysis also demonstrates that profitability in dual VET goes far beyond short-term financial returns – it encompasses apprentice productivity, employee retention, reduced recruitment costs, and long-term competitiveness.
