The Skills for Productivity, Environment and Economic Diversification (SPEED) methodology is the ILO’s updated sectoral approach to anticipating and addressing skills needs in the context of the green transition. Building on more than a decade of experience with the Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED) methodology, SPEED provides a systematic, sector focused framework to identify current and future skills needs, diagnose system‑wide constraints, and support sectoral development that is productive, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive.

This webinar will present the core elements of the SPEED approach, explain how it integrates environmental sustainability with sectoral development, and highlight its practical application through country experience from Ghana and Namibia. Participants will gain insights into how SPEED can support skills diagnostics, policy alignment, stakeholder engagement and actionable recommendations and implementation.
