SUMMARY:DC dVET BarCamp Gender and Social Inclusion: Social Inclusion in Dual VET
DESCRIPTION:Global and national networks representing disadvantaged groups (e.g. Youth alliances; migration networks; Global Business and Disability Network; International Disability Alliance; to only name a few) play an increasingly important role in identifying gaps and guiding governments and development cooperation projects towards more inclusive skills and employment policies and practices at the global and national levels. \nHow can development cooperation support partnerships between such specialised organisations\, training providers and the business sector to adopt and realise inclusive dual VET? How can a self-assessment tool support a systematic understanding and addressal of GESI in dual VET? \nThe 4th DC dVET Barcamp on “Progress in Social Inclusion in dual VET through Self-Assessments and Partnerships – Presentation of Innovative Tools and Projects” provides a excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and challenges for practitioners working with a particular focus on social inclusion in dual VET. \nThe programs offer \n\nA keynote by Christine Hofmann\, Skills and Employability Specialist\, ILO: Presentation of self-assessment tool for Social Inclusion in Skills Development and experience in adaptation.\nExchange Sessions: Information will follow soon\n\nJoin us and register here \nExchange sessions on the topics proposed by participants: Define your own session theme and benefit from the ideas and suggestions of your peers \nWe invite you to host your own session with any question\, experience\, challenge\, or good practice that you have related to the topic of the BarCamp. While we provide the (virtual) room\, you decide on how you want to approach the topic – you can do a short presentation\, organize a workshop\, or simply ask a question for an open discussion. It’s up to you! Only the time frame is fixed – a session lasts max. 50 minutes. Let us know your topic in the registration form for the event- we are happy to support you.

SUMMARY:The future of worker-manager relations: Does cooperation lead to better outcomes and just rewards?
DESCRIPTION:This Knowledge Conversation will focus on the role of managers/leaders in engendering worker-management cooperation. \nIt can be difficult to quantify managers’ direct contributions to fostering good performance and equitable reward sharing. However\, Stephan Billinger and Stephen Rosenbaum of the University of Southern Denmark have made a valiant attempt. Their study tested the impact of managers on worker collaboration using a variation of a common laboratory experiment known as a public-goods game. \nThis Knowledge Conversation will focus on the role of managers/leaders in engendering worker-management cooperation. The study findings add to the still nascent (but burgeoning) line of research attesting to the so-called “dark side of leadership” where managers exploit their positions for self-gain at the expense of their workers. \nThe digital transformation is disrupting how work is undertaken\, coordinated\, monitored and evaluated. How does this reflect on managerial discretion and hierarchical structures? What does the future of worker-manager relations look like? \nFurther information

SUMMARY:Webinar Financial Incentives with Kurt Schmid (ibw)
DESCRIPTION:In dual VET\, companies typically bear a substantial part of the training costs. This raises the question why companies that are engaged in VET are willing to incur these costs\, and to which extent financial subsidies do or can influence this decision. \nKurt Schmid will provide an overview on general options and reflect on pros and cons of financial incentives to training companies in dual VET. SUMMARY:Innovative applications of the MSD Competency Framework
DESCRIPTION:In 2018\, the BEAM Exchange launched the MSD Competency Framework as a tool for MSD programmes to invest in their staff capacity – through hiring\, training and assessment. Since then\, many organisations and their programmes have tested or adapted pieces of the framework. \nThis webinar will provide examples from three organisations who have applied the framework in innovative ways – taking what they need from it and putting it into practice. \nGatsby Africa implemented a competency framework across all programmes and offices\, which has explicit ties to performance assessment and personal development planning. \nPRISMA applied the framework to its innovative ‘batch’ recruitment process\, with large cohorts of new staff taken in at regular intervals. \nThe ILO has used parts of the framework to develop a value chain analysis certification process\, which it has used to ensure the quality and competence of staff\, programme partners\, and consultants. \nJoin us to find out more about the framework and be inspired to apply it to your organisation – increasing the effectiveness of your teams and the impact of your programme. \nFurther Information

SUMMARY:DC dVET BarCamp: How does the business sector implement GESI in dual VET
DESCRIPTION:Under which conditions does the business sector become a driver for inclusive dual VET? How can GESI be addressed from a business case point of view? For which groups\, sectors and occupations and with which priorities and partnerships is this feasible? For which groups\, sectors and occupations and with which priorities and partnerships? What role do private sector leaders and instructors play for an inclusive training and working environment? \nAnd how can development cooperation support the business sector to adopt and realise inclusive dual VET? \nThe 3rd DC dVET Barcamp on 15 March 2023 addresses the above mentioned questions\, with the following program: \n\nWelcoming & Introduction (12pm CET)\nKey Note Speech by Schneider Electric on: How does the business sector engages in GESI\nOpen Exchange Sessions with Practice Input\nConsolidation & Closure (2pm CET)\n\nRegister here \nFurther information on the program: \nKeynote: Diane Le Goff\, Global Manager of the Youth Education & Entrepreneurship CSR programs for Schneider Electric\, based in Vietnam will focus her keynote “Strengthening VET\, supporting the integration of women in the energy field and encouraging innovation.  \nTraining in the energy field is a key driver for Schneider Electric to provide an inclusive answer to several challenges of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this regard\, the Youth Education & Entrepreneurship program at Schneider Electric has a specific focus on supporting people not in education\, employment\, or training\, the youth\, refugees\, women in vulnerable situations\, and marginalized groups of people.  For more than 10 years the Schneider Electric group has been supporting technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to help build a generation of skilled manpower\, which are needed at all levels of the economies. Schneider Electric is focusing on TVET as a valuable tool for sustainable development\, as it allows the development of environmentally sound skills\, critical for shifting toward a more sustainable economic model.. The actions are always implemented in partnership with local players and/or national or international non-profit organizations (NGOs\, governments\, etc.) and with Schneider Electric’s local subsidiary. The 2025 ambition is to support 1 million people trained\, 10 000 trainers trained\, 10 000 entrepreneurs supported. SUMMARY:An ecosystem approach to skilling: Insights from 85 innovative programs
DESCRIPTION:Opportunities for continuous up- and reskilling should be accessible to all workers in order to maintain the competitiveness of the workforce. However\, our current systems for skill building are not ready to tackle this challenge: government\, academia and employers chronically underinvest in adult learning\, and do not (yet) collaborate efficiently to provide at scale\, end-to-end skilling solutions. In our research at the BCG Henderson Institute\, we studied early examples of “skilling ecosystems”\, innovative programs that involve multiple stakeholders to deliver up/reskilling solutions to address a specific skill gap. In this session we will discuss the different types of such ecosystems\, key success factors and selected best practices based on our database of 85 examples around the world. \nFurther Information

SUMMARY:Market Systems Development (MSD) to Reduce Poverty
DESCRIPTION:This course provides a basic introduction to the concepts and methods behind market systems development (MSD)\, an approach to understanding and overcoming the failure of systems to serve the needs of the poor. Contrary to traditional project approaches\, in which implementing agencies provide or support services that go directly to the poor\, an agency applying MSD acts as a facilitator to align key players and functions of a system to produce sustainable results. The approach was originally developed to analyze and strengthen market systems and private sector development — which will be the focus of the course. Today\, the approach is also applied to systems with predominantly public sector activities\, such as education systems. \nFurther information
