SUMMARY:Invitation: Solutions for youth employment (S4YE) peer learning session on work-based learning
DESCRIPTION:Dear colleagues\, \nhere is the invitation to the next session in the Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) Peer Learning Series\, focusing on \nWork-based Learning: Lessons from German Development Cooperation \nCreating decent jobs and preparing young people to them is one of the most persistent challenges in most labour markets all over the world. Work-based learning\, and apprenticeships in particular\, can be a central tool to overcome this challenge. They promise to bridge the gap between training and real employment\, make skills systems more responsive to employers’ needs and give young people a foothold in the labour market\, rather than just providing a certificate. \nThey will be looking at work-based learning (WBL) in a broad sense\, meaning any training which systematically includes learning at the workplace\, such as cooperative training models or traditional apprenticeships\, covering formal as well as informal models. Colleagues from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Welthungerhilfe (WHH) will share German Development Cooperation’s specific experience with WBL in development cooperation.
