Day 1: International Speakers

Gary Husband: A cartography of the VET teaching qualification landscape across the 4 nations of the UK
Harry Stolte: Trends in the development of TVET teacher training in selected countries in S-E Asia.
Frank Bünning: Structures of TVET teacher education in Germany.

Gary Husband is a lecturer in professional education at the University of Stirling in Scotland. Gary is also President of the Association for Research in Post Compulsory Education, College Governor at Newbattle Abbey Adult Education College and Chair of the board of directors for the Duncan MacKinnon Music and Arts Trust. Gary’s research work is focused on VET education and current projects include a nationally funded project that aims to develop a greater understanding of college governance across the UK, and a project for the Scottish Government about what professionalism means in VET education.

Harry Stolte has worked for 30 years in the area of Technical Vocational Education and Training within international cooperation with developing countries, countries in transition and industrialised countries. He has been responsible for the design, formulation, implementation and evaluation of international projects, mostly in countries in Asia, South-East Asia and Eastern Europe. He has special expertise in Standards and Curricula Development, Development of Teaching and Learning Media, TVET Teacher Training and on different areas of TVET related to Sustainable Development

Frank Bünning is full professor/chair professor for Technology and Education, vice dean of the Faculty for Humanities, and chairs the Centre of Teacher Education at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg/Germany. He is a widely experienced international TVET researcher. Currently, he is involved in a number of international TVET research and development projects in Asia (China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia) and is spokesman of the Magdeburg UNEVOC-Centre for Sustainable Development.

Rod McDonald is Principal, Ithaca Group, former Special Advisor to the Australian National Training Authority and Foundation Dean of UTS Faculty of Education.
