SDC supports the development of market-oriented, high-quality vocational education and training in Myanmar.
The following needs to be achieved in concrete terms (i) the education offer in the hotel trade needs to be expanded and the quality of the services provided in this sector needs to be improved, (ii) mobile, market-oriented vocational education and training needs to be offered in rural areas and (iii) the monitoring and accreditation standards for current and future vocational education and training need to be improved with the support of the National Skills Standard Authority (NSSA).
SDC also supports the Center for Vocational Training (CVT) in Yangon. Every year this trains more than 500 young people in the hotel trade, administration, welding, electricity and carpentry. It is held in high regard by the government and the private sector. The three-year training programmes are based on the Swiss system.
The target groups include specialists from the hotel trade, disadvantaged population groups in the southeast of Myanmar and students at the training centre.
