Project Description

Education to Employment (E2E) Project, financed by SDC

Project Overview

Education to Employment (E2E) program aims to increase youth employability in Serbia in a sustainable and socially inclusive way. All of our activities are directed towards two goals:

The first, we want to support respective ministries to improve employment-related public policies, both through analysis and support for social innovation.

The second goal is to create a system which will allow Serbia’s youth to improve their chances of being employed through innovative unemployment reduction solutions which we test in five Serbian municipalities – Pirot, Knjazevac, Krusevac, Kragujevac and Novi Pazar.

Together with our local partners, E2E is working to identify the most successful cooperation model between the municipal administration, education institutions, business sectors and local community able to reducte of youth employment in a sustainable and socially inclusive way.

E2E uses a similar Swiss system of youth employment support as our role model. We plan to support partners in adapting this system – which offers different work based training, career guidance and counselling services – to fit the local needs and create an efficient employment support system for our youth.

Dual Elements

  • To support young people learn skills which are in demand on the job market we created a network of five local partner organizations in Krusevac, Kragujevac, Knjazevac, Novi Pazar and Pirot. These are our pilot areas where E2E tests and adjusts the Swiss youth employment support system to best fit Serbian needs.

  • First, E2E tests the best way to link and connect municipal administrations, local businesses, schools and NGO`s in public-private partnerships for a long-term reduction of youth unemployment.

  • E2E links companies with educational institutions to join resources and develop effective and modern work based training programs. By responding to the needs of the local employers E2E supports creation of training programs that lead young people faster towards their employment.

  • Second, E2E works to determine necessary changes in the laws and public policies to allow the youth employment support system to spread in communities across Serbia. Our findings from our pilot areas are transferred to Serbian Government thought our partners in the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction (SIPRU) team.
